Aged in Church of Pentecost Church lauded for selfless service-By Ps. Christian Tsekpoe & Dns. Isabella Orhin

The Teshie Nungua Area Head of Church of Pentecost, Prophet James osei Amaniampong has lauded the aged in the church particularly those who are 60 years and above for the key role they played in the growth and development of the church.

He said the church will never forget your love, dedication, passion and commitment as well as the pivotal role played in grooming young Christians to take over the leadership of he church.

Prophet Amaniampong  said this at the opening of a  special two-day conference  organized as part of the activities marking the 2014, Easter Convention of the Teshie-nungua Area Church of Pentecost, for all adults who are  60 years  and above  at the Grace English Assembly popularly known as Graceland in the Nshorna District of the Area.

“It is as a result of your efforts in bringing up your own children and other people’s children in the fear of the Lord that the church is where it is today.” Prophet Amaniampong said.

He said the theme of the 2014  Convention  for  the area which is “Jesus Christ my Victorious banner,” (Acts 20:5)  is a pointer to the fact that the death of Jesus on the Cross has brought bout countless opportunities and gifts for all who believe in him and urged the aged to continue to see themselves as  victorious as they  support the church in diverse ways.

He said their zeal to win more souls for the kingdom pushed them into countless rallies, dawn broadcasts, house to house evangelism, and conventions etc which have all propelled the church to greater heights.

Even in their old age, Prophet Amanimpong urged them not to abandon heir mission in life, but to continue to support the church through prayer, counseling and participation in church activities and mentoring of the youth in order for them to continue impacting the present generation.

In an exhortation, Ps. Lawrence Kofi Karikari urged the aged in the church to revive the Holy Ghost in them which will reignite their gifts which are still important for church growth and development.

He said the youth in the church still need the older generation to guide them on the path of righteousness.

The aged were treated to intensive prayers, old Witness Movement songs as they prayed and danced with the area head and other pastors of the church.

They were also feted and presented with gifts at the end of the conference.

The meeting was coordinated and facilitated by pastors Lawrence Karikari, Nicholas Darko, Francis Yaw Adu and Duodu.
