Widows and widowers in the Teshie –Nungua Area of the Church of Pentecost have been urged to dedicate
themselves to the service of God.
They have also been asked to make conscious efforts to
create happiness in their homes through singing of praises to God and trusting
God to provide their needs.
Speaking to widows and widowers at a special conference
organized in their honour as part of the 2014 Easter convention of the
Teshie-Nungua Area Church of Pentecost, Prophet James Osei Amanaimpong, Area
Head of the Church said the death of Jesus Christ has brought immeasurable
victory to all who believe in Him and this does not exclude widows and
widowers.
“As we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus, widows
and widowers must realize that Jesus Christ is our victorious banner and His
death has brought us healing, strength , long life, and prosperity,” Prophet Amaniampong said adding,
“If you have lost your spouse, that is not the end of the world for you.”
He urged the widows and widowers to dedicate their time to
the service of God and make impact in the house of God while ensuring that
there is happiness in their homes and hearts.
He said the theme of the 2014 Convention for the area which
is “Jesus Christ my Victorious banner,” (Acts 20:5) is a pointer to the fact
that the death of Jesus on the Cross has brought bout countless opportunities
and gifts for all who believe in him and urged the widows to see themselves as
victorious in spite of their difficulties.
“No mater the difficulty of your situation, God will
intervene as you make conscious efforts to change your environment from one of gloom,
sadness and tears to a happy home full of love hope for you, your children and
family.”
In a sermon, the Vice Rector of the Pentecost University
College , Prof. Kwame Boasiako
Omane-Antwi said God is greatly concerned about widows and widowers ad
Deuteronomy 10; 18 states that God defends the cause of the fatherless and
widows.
He also quoted psalm 68: 5 which states, “A father to the
fatherless, a defender of Widows is God in His holy dwelling.”
He said those who
deal cruelly with widows and widowers will not escape the judgment of God as
explained by the bible.
He asked widows and widowers to depend on the word of God.
He also urged them to be prayerful like Ana in the bible.
Prof. Omane Antwi also encouraged young widows to marry if
they find a good partner.
The two day meeting also included workshops and group
discussions on the challenges of widowhood and how they can better their lot as
well as bringing up their children as single parents.
The widows and widowers were feted and presented with gifts
from the area and sent home happier than they came.
The conference was coordinated by Pastor Johnny Blantyne and
supported by Ps. Emmanuel Love Teye and Ps. James Mckweon Asare all of the Teshie –Nungua Area.
