LIVE HEALTHY –DR. KEN ABOAH ADVISES CHRISTIANS
Dr. Ken Aboah, a consultant Urologist with the Komfo Anokye
Teaching Hospital in Kumasi has asked Christians to pay attention to health
issues confronting them and strive to lead healthy lives.
Speaking on the topic
“Ten Steps to Healthy Living,” at the just ended Teshie-Nungua Area Medical
School, Dr. Aboah who is also a Barrister at law read 3rd John 1 and 2 and said
the verse promises both good health and prosperity.
He said the fact that your grandmother or your mother
suffered from breast cancer does not mean you are also going to suffer from the
same disease.
He encouraged
Christians to indulge in preventive Prayers by praying out various disease from
their lineage; “Just say my children will never have it, and my grandchildren
will never have it and add that by the
stripes of Jesus, I am healed.” he said.
He drew an analogy between two biblical characters
namely Moses and Eli. He said while Eli
died as a fat man at the age of 98 years with very little physical activity,
Moses died at the age of 120 and was very strong and could climb any mountain
because he had been walking on the desert for 40 years.
Dr. Aboah read biblical texts from Deuteronomy 34 and Samuel
4:15-18.
“Moses could climb every mountain, he could see far. He
walked for 40 years and they eat natural things. Natural things will make you
live long,” Dr. Aboah said adding, In Genesis 1:29. God gave us plants for food.”
He said healthy diet include fruits and vegetables as well as
water. Dr. Aboah warned church members against the
use of excessive salt. “Salt is bad.
25% of adult Ghanaians are hypertensive partly due to high salt intake. He also
spoke against the use of oils and encouraged Ghanaians to rather focus on
consuming fatty fish and chicken. “Fish oil is good for the heart, Oil in meat
is bad for the heart.”
Dr. Ken Aboah also
said fasting is very good and helps in the cleansing and internal hygiene of
the body
“The day you fast, that is the day the body cleanses itself,
drink a lot of water when you are fasting, you can fast on fruits and
vegetables,” he said.
Dr. Aboah further
recommended physical activities or exercises as well as consistent devotional
lives.
He explained further that 60% of diseases are related to
stress. He said the worse form of stress is unforgiveness. “If you don’t forgive a person, that person
will attend your funeral, go and have reconciliation,” he said.
He further recommended that people living with
hypertension should go to waterfalls and seaside. You will
experience great healings.
Quoting David in Psalm 23, Dr. Aboah said taking time to
visit serene and quite environments is a great remedy to the human body and
mind.
He encouraged all to stay within the normal BMI which ranges
from 15-25.
Again, he said good marriage relationship promotes good
health while cleanliness and hygiene are all encouraged in the promotion of
health.
Dr. Aboah further advised participants of the medical school
to avoid self-medication, addiction to enema and go for regular medical
checkup.
Dr. Aboah also talked on Prostate enlargement and its
various treatments and said it is wrong for people to assume that retention of
urine is caused by promiscuity among men. Sex he said does not constitute
prostate enlargement.
He advised all men above 40 years to have their prostate
test or PSA done at least annually to prevent prostate cancer and prostate
enlargement as they grow.
On impotence, Dr. Aboah said now treatment is available for
all forms of impotence to enable married men live happily with their partners.
He said men who have become ‘weak’ due to diabetes and other social problems
can all be assisted with various devices, some implanted into the scrotum and
other reusable devices and drugs which are available. He advised men suffering
from impotence to seek help at the right facilities and not keep the problems
to themselves.
The school featured seasoned doctors including Dr. Prosper K
Moh, An Orthopaedic Surgeon from St John of God Hospital Duayaw Nkwanta in the
Brong -Ahafo Region; Elder Dr. Joseph osafo, a Clinical Psychologist and
Sociologist; Deaconess Dr. Constance Bart- Plange, epidemiologist and
Malariologist; Dr. Mrs. Agnes Asare, an Obstetrics/ Gynecologist from Tarkwa
Church of Pentecost.
The Area Head Prophet James Osei Amaniampong was of the view
that the Area seeks to bring the hospital closer to the people.
