Sweat here does not refer to your body’s perspiration, but your self-reliance or self-effort. God does not want you to believe that if you don’t do anything, nothing will happen. That may be true for someone without God in his life, but it is not true for you because you have God. And when He is in the picture, the God-factor changes everything! When you are resting in God, He works for you. In fact, when He works, you end up with more. He is the one who is giving to you. It is not about you trying to give to yourself. The idea that poverty is holy and wealth a curse never came from God. It came from the devil who wants you poor. When my daughter was born, I loved her so much that I became overly concerned about her. Every time she fell sick, I would worry. The more concerned I was about her health, the more she fell sick. When she recovered from a viral attack, a few weeks later, she would have another viral attack. If it was not a viral attack, it would be some other physical ailment. And the more her health was attacked, the more worried I got. Then, God began to speak to me. He said, “Your very worry over your daughter is stopping the supply of My health and healing to her. You just need to be someone who knows Jesus, because it is Jesus who gives you rest! My friend, perhaps you’re dealing with a challenging physical condition in your body today. And if you are weary, confused and tired because of all your efforts to get healed, just go to Him right now and tell Him, “Jesus, I’m so tired and confused. I’m scared too. Please hold me in Your arms and give me rest.” You don’t have to say anything if you don’t want to. You can just cry in His presence. Beloved, He already knows all that you are going through. I love the symbolism of Jesus as fine flour. Fine, even flour comes from wheat that has been pounded and beaten again and again, and sifted several times. Doesn’t that remind you of Jesus’ sufferings and sacrifice for you? And like fine flour, there is nothing coarse about the person of Jesus. Everything about Him is in even proportions. For with stammering lips and another tongue He will speak to this people, to whom He said, “This is the rest with which You may cause the weary to rest,” and, “This is the refreshing”… Isaiah 28:11-12 You’ve probably heard of the term “R&R.” It’s commonly used in the military and it means “rest and relaxation” after some exhausting overseas training or mission. Doctors also order “rest and rehabilitation” for the injured and sick.My friend, God has an R&R for you too. It’s called “the rest and the refreshing” , and it comes through praying in the Holy Spirit or tongues. One of the best ways to rest and be refreshed, especially when you are worried, fatigued or just waiting for the manifestation of your healing, is to pray in the Holy Spirit. Just think of what that involved. The Egyptian state and Pharaoh, its head, had made it illegal to keep a Hebrew baby-boy. By law, such children were to be killed at birth. Soldiers moved around to carry out this order ... . What terror and grief there must have been! Then Moses was born. His parents looked upon this lovely son, and decided to defy the law and hide the baby. "By faith . . . they were not afraid.” Officers of the law were around, and their footsteps were heard stopping at their very door, seeking the child's life! Here are some foundational truths of the Christian Faith: To be believers, we should know what we believe, and Whom we believe.
